The final three months is an integral time in your wedding planning. The big-ticket items may already be booked and paid for but now it’s time to turn your focus to the little things and finer detail that will make your wedding truly yours.

Shop for accessories

You’ve already bagged the dress of your dreams but it’s the accessories that will really bring your look together and are a brilliant way to have a bit of fun and add some personality to your bridal style. How about some colourful wedding shoes, or statement jewellery? And don’t forget to research the most appropriate underwear for your outfit!

Choose wedding rings

Your wedding rings shouldn’t be an after-thought. They should be something that you will love and cherish forever, plus you will be wearing them every single day! Spend some time researching your individual styles and make time to visit some jewellers to try some on in person before taking the plunge.

Send invitations

When or where you’re holding your wedding celebrations will determine the best time to send your wedding invitations out. But somewhere around the 3-month mark is perfect. This gives your guests enough time to RSVP (and for you to chase up the slow replies!), it also means they can arrange accommodation, transport and child / dog care, if needed, in good time too.

But if you do decide to go down that route you will need to start the process sooner so that you have time to go through the design process and get them in the post!

Discuss ceremony readings

It’s always a lovely touch to have a couple of close friends or family members recite a poem or reading during your wedding ceremony. Whether you have something already in mind or whether you’d like them to choose one to suit you as newlyweds, now is the perfect time to pose the question.

Select wedding music

If you haven’t already confirmed musicians / a DJ for your wedding celebrations, it’s time to get them booked in! But what will they play? Start thinking about the song you want to walk down the aisle to, if you’re having any music during your drinks reception, and most importantly…what song will soundtrack your first dance?

Go for a menu tasting

Another highlight of planning a wedding – the menu tasting session! Caterers will often ask you to select a couple of dishes per course that you’d like to try before confirming your final menu. Why not make a day of it and invite your parents / best friends along too? This is a lovely way to include them in your wedding planning journey but also a brilliant opportunity to get their honest opinion too.

Write your vows / speech

Writing your vows isn’t a process that happens overnight and if you take one thing away from this article, don’t leave it until the night before! At this 3-month mark simply start thinking about what you might like to include, keep the task at the forefront of your mind and try to make notes whenever inspiration strikes. Naturally you may have some legal vows to follow, but it’s your personalized vows and speeches which will capture the essence of your unique relationship and the commitment you’re making to each other for the future.

Consider the small things; favours, a guest book, photo booth etc

There are 101 things you could buy for your wedding but try not to get too carried away! Some of the smaller details to contemplate buying / hiring are wedding favours for your guests, a guest book (don’t forget the pens!), a photo booth, umbrellas / flip flops (weather depending), confetti, candles / lanterns, a card box etc. Don’t forget to check out pre-loved sites as many newlyweds will sell / giveaway wedding items after their big day.

Start planning any DIY projects for the wedding décor

Following on from the last point, you really don’t have to buy everything new - there will always be some wedding items that you can save money on, simply by making them yourself. Channel your inner DIY geek and use Pinterest for some inspiration on unique table plan ideas, photo walls, bunting etc. Alternatively, if you have some talented creative folk in your wedding party who could help – rope them in to help!

The countdown really is on now but simply take each day as it comes and remember to stay on track by checking in with a wedding planning checklist.
